We can’t believe it’s been five whole years since this community of fabulous women began, and that we continue to grow and have each other’s backs. That’s because we’re alllllllll awesome.
We’ve teamed up with Newcastle Contemporary Art and Farrell Centre for a private viewing of an amazing exhibition that explores 1980s feminist architecture. ‘How We Live Now’ by Matrix Feminist Design Co-operative aims to empower groups often excluded in the design of buildings, including Black and Asian women’s organisations, community and childcare groups, and lesbian and gay housing co-operatives, to explore more inclusive ways of designing, building and occupying spaces.
Whilst we check out this amazing installation which was originally curated for the Barbican Centre in London, we’ll be sipping bubbles and wine, gorging ourselves on cheese and catching up with everyone from past events. There might even be cake. This is the one time in the year when we all come together to do some mingling and just generally let our hair down to some lush beats. We’ve never needed it so much, so come raise a glass to all the mint ladies in our Toon gang.
New ladies are very welcome, so if you see yourself as a creative, in whatever form that takes, and you’ve never been to one of our events, it’d be lovely to see your face.
